Who are we

The centre for Gifted Children is a programme dedicated to enhancing the learning opportunities for students deemed gifted and talented

What We’ve Done

Previoulsy the CGC was known as the Wirral Able Child Centre (WACC)

WACC started in 1995, to serve the pupils of Calday and the the wider community. Under “Excellence in Cities” WACC became Wirral wide with its outreach bases increasing in number.

The purpose is to provide extension opportunities through our courses & resources for the Gifted and Talented pupils of Wirral. However we now feel that the time is right to extend this opportunity to all students.

What We Do

Activities - Most of our classes & workshops take place out-of school hours and during the holidays either at our Calday base or at an outreach centre. Alternatively, by invitation, we can take our workshops into any Wirral’s, Merseyside or North Wales primary schools.

We target mostly Y4-7 with our post-school activities and mainly KS3 pupils with full-day workshops.

We have just completed our 9th fully sponsored G&T Summer in co-operation with Birkenhead Park Rangers, RIBA and CABE. This year the theme was Greenplaces. The work produced by the children was such a high standard that it is being showcased by RIBA as an example of learning experiences beyond the classroom. Attendance from our Birkenhead North End children was excellent and their work and attitude was superb.
